02 Pilot Programme for Electronic Labelling of Imported Cosmetics Launched
On May 11, 2026, Shanghai took the lead in launching a pilot programme for electronic labelling of imported cosmetics. The first batch of pilot enterprises comprises nine globally renowned cosmetics groups: LVMH, Chanel, Procter & Gamble, LG Household & Health Care, Elizabeth Arden, Bioderma, and Shiseido.
By enabling data sharing and automated cross‑verification between customs and drug regulatory authorities, the programme reduces manual review time and accelerates clearance efficiency. Electronic labelling is expected to become an industry standard, allowing companies to save on packaging printing and manual labelling costs, while also supporting dynamic online updates of label information.
